VARESE, Italy — The University of Illinois men's basketball team started its Italy tour on a high note Tuesday with a 118-56 win over CUS Insurbia.

The game was a chance for Illini players and coaches to try out lineups and rotations for the upcoming season. Also, assistant coach Geoff Alexander took over head coaching duties for the night.

The Illini took a 20-point lead n the first quarter and went from there. They shot 60.2 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from 3-point range. The Illini also had 17 steals.

Ayo Dosunmu had 27 points, five assists and four rebounds for Illinois, while Giorgi Bezhanishvili had 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting with six rebounds. Trent Frazier had 14 of his 17 points in the first half, Kipper Nichols had 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, Alan Griffin had 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds and Da'Monte Williams had 10 points and five steals.

The Illini will continue play in Italy today against the Gazzada All-Stars at 1 p.m.
