TILTON — Garrett Drake's game-winning single in the fifth inning completed a doubleheader sweep for the Danville Junior Speakers against Champaign on Tuesday night at Gruber Park.

Danville, which won the opener 17-2, actually trailed 5-1 entering the fourth inning.

The Junior Speakers, who improved to 23-6 on the summer, scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to close within 5-4. Champaign extended its lead to 6-4 with a single run in the fifth.

Danville's Bryce Burnett started the fifth-inning rally with a leadoff walk. Nick Coffin followed with a single and Jacob Spear singled to right to load the bases.

Junior Speaker pitcher Christian Masterman tied the game at 6-6 with a two-run single to right.

With runners on second and third, as Masterman stole second, Drake delivered a single to left on a 3-2 pitch to score Spear with the game-winning run.

Masterman, who allowed just one run in the final two innings on the mount, was credited with the victory.

After allowing two runs in the top of the fifth, the Junior Speakers responded with three in the bottom of the first and then a 10-run second inning on it's way to 15-run victory.
