TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — For the second night in a row, the Danville Dans were shutout.
This time, it wasn't the pitching staff of the Terre Haute Rex that stymied the bats of the Danville Dans. It was the weather.
A strong thunderstorm that produced severe lighting forced the start of Wednesday's game to be delayed. After more than 90 minutes, the game was officially postponed.
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader, two 7-inning games, on Friday at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute, The first game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. (Eastern) start with the second game tentatively set for 8 p.m. (Eastern).
With Chillicothe's 10-1 win over the West Virginia Miners on Wednesday night, the Dans have seen their lead in the Prospect League's East Division cut to 2.5 games over the Paints.
Danville still maintains the league's top record at 25-9, while Terre Haute (19-17) is tied for fourth, seven games behind Danville.
The Dans are back on the road tonight with a 7:05 p.m. (Eastern) game tonight in Lafayette against the Aviators, who are 20-17 this season.
In nine meetings this season, Danville has won five, while Lafayette has won four, including the last meeting at Loeb Stadium.
The next home game for the Dans will be next Tuesday against the Aviators at 6:30 p.m.
