In Wednesday’s sectional semifinal, the Seeger girls tennis team slid past Covington 3-2, but in Thursday’s final, it would have no problems at all.

The Patriots defeated host Fountain Central 5-0 to move on to face the winner of the Zionsville sectional on Tuesday.

Ashley White set the pace in No. 1 singles, defeating Ashley Howard 6-0, 6-0. River Lane beat Shelby Allen 6-3, 6-1 and Kelsey Gillum beat Amy Brown 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, Hannah Akers and Chloe Thurman defeated Jayci Furr and Celeste Martin 6-1, 6-1 and Chelsea Dause and Holly Peterson shut out Ashley Burgner and Jamie Stockdale 6-0, 6-0.

RANTOUL — Four Vikings had two RBIs each as the team won out against Rantoul in non-conference action.

Dennis Forrest, Tyler Burton, Ryne Watson and Cale Morman were the Danville players with two RBIS with all four of them collecting two hits each.

Logan Vance, Dylan Pierce and Blake Chenoweth each had one RBI for the Vikings, who end the regular season 14-10-3 and will face Mahomet-Seymour in regional action on Thursday at Mahomet.

Greencastle 15

N. Vermillion 4

CAYUGA, Ind. — Greencastle jumped out to a 6-1 lead after three innings and scored eight in the fifth to finish off the Falcons in five innings.

Robert Sollars hits a solo homerun for North Vermillion with Kody Lenhart and Jacob Rankin each getting an RBI.

The Falcons are 7-15-1 and will face South Vermillion in a doubleheader on Monday.

URBANA — Mackenzie Stevenson gave up only three hits as the Vikings won their final regular season game against the team they will face in the first game of regional action.

Elizabeth Comrie had three hits and two RBIs for Danville while Stephanie Ziegler had two of her own. Elisa Ramos, McKenzie Hodges, Morgan King and Logan Taylor each had one RBI with King picking up four hits.

The Vikings are 12-17 and end the Big 12 season 7-6 and will face Urbana on Tuesday.

N. Vermillion 4

Attica 1

CAYUGA, Ind. — Hailey Aukerman had two hits and an RBI as the Falcons scored three runs in the first inning and held the lead throughout against the Red Ramblers.

Bethany Chew gave up only three hits against Attica while Taylor Poynter had a RBI for North Vermillion.

The Falcons end the regular season at 13-11 and 9-5 in the Wabash River Conference and will face Covington Tuesday in sectional action at Riverton Parke High School.

COVINGTON, Ind. — Aaron White shot a 37 for the Trojans, but it was not enough in losing to Benton Central.

Ryan McBride shot a 45 for Covington with Ty Asbury shooting a 46 and JP Newkirk carding a 47.
