DANVILLE — Down 42-33 at halftime, the Schlarman Academy boys basketball team pulled out all the stops in the second half.

The Hilltoppers outscored Hoopeston Area 49-34 to get the 82-76 win on Thursday in Vermilion Valley Conference action.

Cole Carnahan had 21 points for Schlarman, while Jamal Taylor had 20 points and Jason Carig and Caleb Kelly each had 15 points.

Josh Delfino had 23 points for the Cornjerkers, while Mauricio Gonzalez and Lucas Hofer each had 17 points.

Both teams will be in action today as the Hilltoppers will host Oakwood, while the Cornjerkers will travel to Milford.

First Baptist 64, Mississippi Valley 45

DANVILLE — Joel Cundiff had 26 points as the Knights won in an IACS regional.

Bryson Harris had 13 points for First Baptist, while Joel Menez and Stephen Seest each had 10.

The Knights advance to a regional title play on Tuesday.

PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL First Baptist 40, Parkwood Baptist 37

DANVILLE — Lexi Doggett had 20 points as the Knights beat Chicago’s Parkwood Baptist in regional play.

Maddie Cooper had 12 points, while Katelyn Hanson added six points for First Baptist, who will continue regional play on Tuesday.
