DANVILLE — For the first time this season, the Danville Dashers held an opponent scoreless.
Danville goalie Harley White turned away 23 shots as the Dashers blanked the Mentor Ice Breakers 3-0 on Tuesday night at the David S. Palmer Arena.
It was a big-time turnaround for White, who had previously been beaten for seven goals by Mentor in a 7-4 loss to the Ice Breakers on Nov. 17, 2019 at Mentor.
The Dashers got all the scoring they would need in the second period as forward Jesse Neher scored his seventh goal of the season off an assists from Brad Denney.
Danville would add two insurance goals in the third period. AJ Tesoriero made it 2-0 with assists going to Neher and Sam Turner. Nick Gullo capped the scoring with an empty-net goal with 16 seconds left in the contest. Denney and Patrik Zilak were credited with assists.
With the victory, Danville improves to 13-9-0-2, moving into second place in the Western Division based on points.
Up next for the Dashers is a Friday night home contest with Mentor. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. at the Palmer Arena.
