Danville’s Brett Huber got the win on the mound on Wednesday during the first Prospect League All-Star game at Springfield’s Robin Roberts Stadium.

Huber went 1 and 2/3 innings and struck out three and walked none as the West Division beat the East 7-4.

“This is a great honor,” Huber said. “I think I threw some of the best stuff of the summer tonight.”

Other Dans in the game included Jason Nappi, who went 0-for-1 with a sacrifice fly in the three-run third inning for the West, David Worthington was 0-for-1 and was hit by a pitch in the second, and Austin Green and Nate Johnson was each 0-for-2.

The MVP of the game was Quincy’s Richie Derbak, who was 1-for-1 and had the game winning hit with a two-run single in the eighth.

Before the game, there was the home run derby, which former Dan Tyler Billups won by beating Springfield’s Denny Vaughn. Vaughn got to the finals by defeating Worthington in a swing-off after both hit three homers in the first round.

The Dans get back to action today when they travel to Quincy. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Also, Gao Grotto Night at Danville Stadium has been rescheduled to July 22nd, which will be a double header against the Hannibal Cavemen which will start at 6 p.m.
