DANVILLE — Illinois State Police continue to investigate a fatal crash that occurred today at Poland Road and State Line Road east of the city.

Police said a gray Pontiac G6 driven by a 19-year-old woman apparently failed to yield at the T-intersection of the two roads at 12:24 p.m. today.

Her northbound vehicle was hit on the driver’s side as it turned onto State Line Road by a southbound 2016 Ford Escape driven a by 20-year-old man from Covington, Ind. The Pontiac came to rest in the east ditch and the Ford came to rest in the middle of the road, police said.

The Pontiac’s driver was deceased at the scene. The Vermilion County Coroner will release the name of the deceased once next of kin notification has been completed.

The driver of the Ford and a female passenger were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Seat belts were worn by those involved.
