DANVILLE — The Danville Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred during the weekend.

According to police, at around 2:52 p.m. Sunday, Danville police responded to the area of the 1200 block of Sheridan Street for a report of shots fired in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old Champaign juvenile who had suffered a broken leg. The juvenile stated he was walking in the area of the 1200 block of Sheridan Street when he heard gunshots and started running away.

The juvenile said he fell and broke his leg during the incident. The juvenile was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injury.

While investigating the scene, officers were notified that a victim had arrived at OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Officers responded to the emergency room and made contact with a 31-year-old Danville man who was being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The victim stated he was walking in the 1200 block of Sheridan Street when two male subjects began yelling at him. The victim stated he continued walking when he heard several gunshots and he was struck in the shoulder.

The victim described the first suspect as a male black wearing a white T-shirt and dreadlock-style hair. The second suspect was described as a male black wearing a blue sweatshirt. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects. No other injuries were reported during the incident.
