WARREN COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities discovered a dead body Thursday inside a vehicle submerged in a Warren County creek.
Warren County Sheriff Bill Miller confirmed a middle-aged man was found dead in a mid-sized car believed to have been submerged in Possum Run creek for several days.
The vehicle was found upside down in the creek just north of Indiana Route 63 and Warren County Road 700 West.
Miller said a man inspecting the bridge that crosses over the creek contacted authorities Thursday afternoon after spotting a vehicle in the water.
Miller said authorities suspect the man found dead to be a person who has been recently reported missing from another county in the area, but his department could not release an official identity. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, West Lebanon, Ind., police, Indiana State Police and Covington, Ind., and West Lebanon fire departments assisted the Warren County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
