Danville police announced another arrest in connection to the April 24 shooting death of Roosevelt Anderson Jr.
Danville Police Commander Joshua Webb said in a release Tuesday that members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force on Monday arrested 22-year-old Tavares A. Mitchell in the Chicago area.
Mitchell was wanted on a Vermilion County arrest warrant for aggravated battery and mob action stemming from the April 24 incident when Anderson was shot and killed. Mitchell is in custody in Cook County and awaiting extradition back to Vermilion County. Mitchell’s bond has been set at $100,000.
Danville police also had arrested 21-year-old Denzel R. Aldridge just two days after Anderson's death.
Police found Anderson lying with a gunshot wound in the road about 1:45 p.m. April 24 in the 900 block of Redden Lane. A witness told police there was a physical altercation between several men just before Anderson was shot. Anderson later died at an area hospital.
Aldridge was charged with murder and felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held on $5 million bond. His pre-trial hearing is set for Aug. 21 in Vermilion County Circuit Court.
The investigation into this incident continues.
