The Tilton Lions Club is once again holding its Tilton Extravaganza on the site of the old Daniel School.

The Extravaganza will begin July 1 and finish July 3 with fireworks.

According to Bob Finley of the Tilton Lions Club, this event has always been the club’s project.

“We have been having the Extravaganza for nearly 20 years,” Finley said. “We usually have it at the park, but with the 14th Street overpass construction, we are having it at the old Daniel school site.”

“This is a good site,” Finley added. “The Village of Tilton has really helped us out.”

Finley said any money the club makes off the Extravaganza stays in the village and is used to buy eyeglasses and hearing aids for those in need.

Tilton Mayor David Phillips concurs with Finley.

“The old Daniel school site will provide lots of visibility for the event,” Phillips said. “There is plenty of parking there.

“We had Ameren put in temporary electrical service, and we have water on the site,” added Phillips. “The village went over and did some grading.”

Phillips also said the Red Neck Games scheduled for later this month also will use the site.

Finley said the Extravaganza will feature a carnival, raffle, karaoke, flea market, food vendors and live music.

“On Wednesday night, we will have Ben Jenkins and the Flat Head 6 band playing from 6 to 9 p.m.,” Finley said. “On Thursday night, the Country Classic band will play from 6 to 9 p.m.”

The Lions Club will sell raffle tickets with the prize being meat and a freezer valued at $500 from Rawhide Meat Company.

The raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The raffle prize winner will be drawn at 9 p.m. Thursday night.

There will be food vendors selling food as well as the Lions Club selling sandwiches.

The fireworks will be Thursday night at approximately 9:30 p.m. There is no admission charge to the Extravaganza.
