A severe thunderstorm swept through Hoopeston Monday night, knocking out power to much of the city.

Hoopeston Emergency Management Agency spokesman Scott Strawser said the storm did not seriously damage the town.

“It’s nothing serious,” he said, adding that there were many downed tree limbs and the power was out just after 10 p.m. Monday.

More detailed information wasn’t available at press time Monday, but Strawser will compile all of his storm data today.
