A man wanted for murder in Texas reportedly eluded police during a chase Friday evening in Danville.

According to Danville police reports, an incident of aggravated fleeing and eluding at Williams and Harvey streets occurred at 5:11 p.m. Friday.

Manuel Alvarez, a subject wanted on a no-bond warrant, was a passenger in a car stopped by officers in the 1000 block of Moore Street, according to police.

News reports in the McAllen (TX) Monitor newspaper have established Manuel Alvarez as the son of Felipe Sr. and Justina Alvarez who were killed Monday in their Danville home.

Two passengers fled the car at the time of the stop Friday.

Alvarez, a back-seat passenger, climbed to the driver’s seat and drove to the intersection of Williams and Harvey streets. He veered off the road and hit a chain link fence, police reports said.

Alvarez and another passenger then fled the scene.

According to Hidalgo County, Texas, Sheriff Lupe Treviño, Alvarez, 32, of Donna, Texas, and his brother, Felipe Jr., might be traveling from Danville to Donna, Texas, to attend their parents’ funeral on Monday and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Manuel Alvarez, is wanted in connection with the death of Donna, Texas, resident Apolinar Ramos, who was found shot and badly burned Dec. 21, 2005, in Donna.

Felipe Jr. is also wanted because he failed to register as a sex offender, Treviño said.
