Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals for CRIS Healthy-Aging Center clients. With the bad weather this week, the Meals on Wheels program has been short on volunteers, many of whom are senior citizens.
Volunteers are needed for the next couple of weeks. New volunteers need to go through a background check, which can take a couple of days, so people are urged to contact CRIS at 443-2999 as soon as possible. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
The Meals on Wheels packages are delivered twice a week — on Tuesdays and Fridays — to about 300 people in Danville, Tilton and Hoopeston area. The packages contain two or three meals for each person.
The volunteers pick up the meals at 10:30 a.m., and delivery takes an hour or less.
