DANVILLE — Danville police arrested Lamont D. Davis, 18, of Danville, in during their investigation of a Nov. 10 homicide.
Police Commander Joshua Webb said the investigation lead to the identification of Davis as one of the individuals involved in the shooting death of 20-year-old Justin T. Daubaris.
Davis was taken into custody around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday on charges of home invasion and an unrelated incident of criminal trespass to land.
Davis was arraigned Friday in Vermilion County Court, where he was additionally charged with first degree murder and armed robbery along with the home invasion. Police said those charges stem from the Nov. 10 incident when Daubaris was shot and killed and another 23-year-old man was wounded at a residence in the 900 block of Hazel St. Police have not identified the wounded man.
That man told police he was in his residence in the 900 block of Hazel Street when three black men came in and attempted to rob him. The victim said he ran from the subjects and was shot while fleeing. He ran to another residence and got a ride to the hospital.
When officers checked to the victim’s residence for suspects, they located Daubaris.
Davis is in custody at the Danville Public Safety Building with a bond set at $5 million.
The investigation into this incident continues as investigators work to identify the other individuals involved.
