DANVILLE — Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden identified a shooting victim from the weekend.
She said the man who died was 20-year-old Justin T. Daubaris of Danville.
McFadden said an autopsy was performed Monday.
The Sunday shooting left another man hospitalized, as well. His name has not been released.
About 11:19 p.m. Sunday, police responded to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center for a 23-year-old Danville man with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities.
The man told police he was in his residence in the 900 block of Hazel Street when three black men came in and attempted to rob him. The victim said he ran from the subjects and was shot while fleeing.
The victim ran to another residence and got a ride to the hospital. He later was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was listed in stable condition on Monday.
Officers then responded to the victim’s residence to check for suspects and upon searching, located Daubaris, who appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.
