Good Sunday morning, everyone! You have one more week to prepare for Christmas. Are you ready?

This year has been a lot different for me personally and because of my involvement with the Toys for Tots program. If you are like me, Thanksgiving falling so late in November really shortened my time to prepare for Christmas.

Today we, as Toys for Tots, will head to Hoopeston to distribute toys there. Yesterday we were in Covington, Ind., taking care of more than 300 kids from west central Indiana. In addition to the Danville distribution, we also had a church in Potomac that had 15 families in need of toys and the last couple of years we took toys to the families living in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ apartments.

You can still help us if you would like. We never have enough help when it comes to the Danville distribution at St. James Church. This takes place every year on the third Wednesday of December, which is the 18th this year. We start at 8 a.m. and go until 5 p.m.

We provide lunch for our volunteers also. The Dashers are always a welcome sight. The local hockey team helps us each year and last year the whole team was there.

In my position as the coordinator for Toys for Tots I get to witness those Christmas Miracles all the time. That miracle is you!

I don’t care what anyone says, this area has some caring people and businesses in it and on behalf of the Marine Corps League I want to thank you!

We have one more week to make a difference this Christmas season. Why not call an old friend, pay for a family’s lunch without them knowing, maybe surprise someone different this year with a gift?

You will not only make a difference in their life, but you will make a difference in your own. I guarantee it!

Give. Advocate. Volunteer. Live United.
