Mr. and Mrs. Davide Botta

(Candice Leigh Gordon)

— Church San Martino a Mensola in Florence, Italy, was the setting for the Aug. 31, 2013, wedding of Candice Leigh Gordon and Davide Alciato Botta. Monsignor Paolo Tarchi performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Neal and Kuba Gordon of Little Rock, Ark. She is the granddaughter of the late Janice Strahl Naylor and John Naylor. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Arkansas, with additional studies in industrial design in Florence.

The groom is the son of Pablo and Leila Alciato Botta of Prato, Italy. He has a master’s degree in marketing from Scuola Scienza Aziendale at Florence and is employed at Bartolini Ripresentanti as an independent textile sales representative.

Matron of honor was Chasity Taylor, sister of the bride. Attendants were McNeill Eggart, friend of the bride, and Breeann Taylor, niece of the bride. Flower girl was Samantha Taylor, niece of the bride.

Best man was Matthew Carrabs, best friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Filippo Bombardieri and Filippo Mazzei, both friends of the groom. Ring bearer was CJ Taylor, nephew of the bride.

The bride wore a chapel-length timeless silhouette gown of beautiful lace, scalloped neckline, deep plunge back and a sparkling beaded belt along her natural waist with sheer elegance. She was escorted down the aisle by her father.

Readings were presented by Patrizia Bartolini and Maria Luce Alciato Botta, aunts of the groom; Antonella Salveti, cousin of the groom’s father; and Isabel Eggart, close friend of the bride.

The violin was played by Jacob Ventura and the harp was played by Elena Maria Gaia Castini.

The reception was held at Villa Viviani beginning with appetizers and drinks in the garden with a beautiful view of Florence, followed by dinner in the dining hall illuminated by an elegant crystal chandelier.

After dinner, Candice and her father did the waltz for the first dance, followed by an evening of celebration with family and friends.

After a honeymoon to Japan, the couple will reside in Prato, Italy.
