Two current Danville Area Community College baseball players will soon be playing for Division I teams.
Shortstop Mark Keller signed a letter of intent to attend Illinois State while pitcher Ryan Zweck signed with Ashford University in Iowa.
Keller hit .331 with 44 runs scored, 10 doubles, four triples and a home run with 11 stolen bases and 41 RBIs last season for the Jaguars.
“Mark had a terrific freshman season and we are looking for great things out of him this spring,” DACC coach Tim Bunton said. “He plays a very solid defensive shortstop and is a complete offensive player, who can hit for average, and steal bases. We expect him to give our offense even more production this season.”
Zweck had a 4-2 record last season for the Jaguars with 23 strikeouts and 11 walks.
“Ryan was a great addition to our program last spring. He transferred in at the break, and fit in very nicely with our team,” Bunton said. “He is a strike thrower and has three quality pitches. We anticipate Ryan being one of the leaders of our pitching staff in 2013.”
