DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College women’s basketball team started the second half strong with a nice run to cut into a 51-29 deficit, but the bigger Vincennes University team took back control of the game and kept a large lead throughout for a 96-63 win Tuesday at Mary Miller Gym.
“I thought we had a nice run in the second half but we just weren’t physical enough to maintain a run,” DACC coach Kyle Bent said.
DACC started slow with turnovers and easily missed shots in the onset of the game and this allowed Vincennes to build its big halftime lead.
“I thought we started flat with a lack of enthusiasm and we did not follow the game plan that we set forth during pre-game,” Bent said.
Kameren Cole had 16 points to lead DACC while Caelen Jones and Megan Hiner each had eight points, Sierra Honeycutt and Shelby Haaggard each had seven points and Kayton Cole added six.
The lady Jaguars played from behind to a more physical Vincennes team, who was led by Nicole Dodd’s 23 points, AShley Hawkins had 19 points, Anais Kirvan had 18 and Anya Kalenta added 15.
DACC travels to John A. Logan College in Carterville for a two day tournament Friday and Saturday.
