BUFFALO GROVE — The Danville girls tennis team’s run at the IHSA state tournament ended on Friday with the team of Rachael and Becca Lewis losing in the fourth round of the consolation bracket.
The Lewis sisters lost to Gurnee Warren’s Max Mella and Courtney Sunday 4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-1.
“We had match point three times, so we lost some opportunities,” Danville coach Mark Bacys said. “They played a good team and you can’t give them many chances.”
With the loss, the Vikings’ season is over and even though they did not reach the goal of being in the top 20 in the state, Bacys said that it was great that the team made it to state again.
“We had a lofty goal and we knew it would be tough to get, but it was a great season,” Bacys said.
