Mustangs, Patriots advance players to WRC semis

Danville 7th at Raider invite

BLOOMINGTON — Marissa Burleson and Madeline Swiersz each had two top 10 finishes as the Vikings were 7th out of 14 teams at the Raider Invitational.

Burleson was sixth in the 100 yard freestyle (59.35) and tied for sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:10.20) while Swiersz was seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.16) and ninth in the 200 individual medley (2:32.66).

Tess Shore was 10th in the 500 freestyle (6:21.44) and Victoria Omark was 10th in the 100 butterfly (1:11.65) for the Vikings.

Storm takes fifth at Watseka

WATSEKA — After losing its first two matches, Salt Fork came back with two wins to get fifth place at the Watseka Invitational.

The Storm lost to Armstrong-Potomac 25-18, 25-15 and Watseka 25-17, 25-8 before beating Tri-Point 25-11, 25-16 and Danville 25-22, 25-19 in the fifth place game.

Jenny Kimbro was named to the All-Tournament Team with 18 kills, 15 digs and three aces for Salt Fork, while Britton Seamon had 18 kills, 10 blocks and two aces, Emilie McFadden had 25 kills and four aces and Allie Trosper had 28 assists and three blocks.

The Storm are 14-4 and have already equaled its win total from last season and will face Milford on Tuesday.

Covington wins Tournament

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — The Trojans defeated Attica 25-22, 25-11 and then hosts Seeger 21-25, 28-26, 15-10 to win the Bi-County Tournament.

Brooke Ahrens had 14 kills and 13 digs while Rachel Hannah had 10 kills, Adison Smith had 12 assists and Kendra Wallace had three aces and 14 digs.

Covington is 11-5 and will travel to North Vermillion on Tuesday.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

DACC 1-2 in Invite

DANVILLE — The Jaguars defeated Triton 3-1 but lost to South Suburban 3-0 and Columbus State 3-0 at Mary Miller Gym.

Paige Thevenin had 15 kills and 10 blocks on the day for DACC while Abby Bergman had 18 kills and 16 digs and Ericka Arnold-Dix had 41 digs and four aces.

In the win against Trition, Aliah Larsen had 12 kills, five digs, two assists and one block and Kaitie Shaw had seven kills.
