---- — MILFORD — After a back and forth game, the Salt Fork football team did just enough to prevail 40-30 over Milford/Cissna Park on Friday in Vermilion Valley Conference action.

For the Storm, the running game was the star as Cole Taylor ran for 175 yards and four touchdowns and Taylor Kirby ran for 125 yards and another touchdown.

The Bearcats did most of their work through the air as Jacob Marquez passed for 255 yards with two touchdown passes to Tyson Rogers. Josh Marquez had six catches for 138 yards while Rogers had seven catches for 86 yards.

Even with the loss, MCP coach Clint Schwartz was pleased with the effort.

“Our players are starting to figure out how to play in big time games,” Schwartz said. “The Marquez brothers had a huge night for us. They have a connection that you can’t coach.

“ That being said, nothing happens without our offensive line blocking for us. They did a great job giving Jacob time back in the pocket. Salt Fork is a good team that is well coached.”

The Bearcats drop to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the VVC and will take on Westville next week while the Storm are 4-0 and 2-0 and will host Bismarck-Henning.

Cerro Gordo 49, Geo-RF/Chrisman 13

CERRO GORDO — The Buffaloes could not do much against Cerro Gordo on the road in non-conference action.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman drops to 3-1 overall but will try to regroup next week when they host Oakwood/Armstrong-Potomac.

N. Vermillion 79, Riverton Parke 0

CAYUGA, Ind. — The Falcons continued to roll past the competition in the Wabash River Conference, shutting out the Panthers.

North Vermillion is 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the WRC and will take on Attica next week.
