TERRE HAUTE, Ind. —
After losing 11-1 to the Terre Haute Rex on Wednesday, the Danville Dans were determined to do better on Thursday on the road.
While the Dans lost 4-3, manager Jason Watson was pleased with the improvement from the team.
“We definitely played better. We pitched it better. We swung it better. And we fielded it better. We were in the game the whole way and we had a chance to win it,” Watson said. “After what happened on Wednesday, it was good to see us bounce back with a good performance.”
The Dans scored first when Casey Fletcher scored on an error by Terre Haute picture Michaelangelo Guzman in the first inning, but the Rex would come back with three runs in bottom of the inning.
Danville would claw back with a double play that brought in Justin Stawychny in the fifth and would tie it in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Adam Casson.
But Terre Haute would score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a hit by Rick Sanchez.
The Dans will take today off before facing the Springfield Sliders in a doubleheader on Saturday. Cody Carroll and Matt Brandys will be the starting pitchers for Danville.
