Five area golfers advance in girls regional action

--- — CHARLESTON — Salt Fork had three girls golfers advance to next week’s IHSA Class 1A girls sectional tournament from Wednesday’s golf regional at the Charleston Country Club.

Courtney LaFoe led the way for the Storm, shooting a 81, which was third overall in the regional, while Camaryn Todd had a 88 and Peyton Meade carded a 117.

In Mahomet’s Lake of the Woods Golf Course, Schlarman Academy’s Sarah Daily made the cut with a score of 95 while Hoopeston Area’s Holly Morgeson got in with a 112.

All five local golfers will play at the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Sectional at Railside Golf Course on Monday.

DANVILLE — Josh Toler and Nino Miller each scored in the second half as the Blue Devils defeated the Hilltoppers.

Toler and Blake Reifsteck each had assists for the Blue Devils while Connor Watson made just one save in goal to get the shutout.

Chris Kuchefski has 12 saves in goal for Schlarman Academy.

The Blue Devils end the regular season at 6-4-1 and they will play the Oakwood Comets in the Schlarman Academy Regional on Tuesday.
