DACC rallies in the second half to defeat Lincoln Land

SPRINGFIELD — Jalen Loving was 6-for-6 from the field and ended up with 15 points as the Danville Area Community College men's basketball team defeated Lincoln Land Community College 58-49 on Wednesday.

Virgil Fleming had 11 points for the Jaguars, who were down 26-24 at halftime, but broke out in the second half to get the lead as high as 12 points. Kenny Dean had nine points with seven rebounds, Desmond Dorsey had seven points while Joseph English had six rebounds and five assists.

The Jaguars will stay on the road on Saturday when they play Illinois Central College at 4 p.m.


DACC 86, Lincoln Land 74

SPRINGFIELD — Kayton Cole had 18 points with seven assists as the Lady Jaguars defeated the Loggers.

Kameren Cole had 16 points while Brianna Jones added 12 points with eight rebounds for DACC, who were 13-of-29 from the 3-point line and 26-of-31 from the free-throw line.

The Lady Jaguars are 14-7 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-West Athletic Conference and will play at Lewis & Clark Community College on Saturday at 2 p.m.


Mustangs split with Southmont

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — The Fountain Central girls team defeated Southmont 132-49 but the boys team lost a close 79-77 meet.

Abby Moore (200-yard individual medley, 100 butterfly), Audrey Campbell (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) and Clare McGrady (500 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) each won two events for the Mustangs while Shelby Gulley won the 200 freestyle, Abby Campbell won in diving and Hannah Gayler took the 100 backstroke.

Also, the Fountain Central 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams also won their events.

Joe Nine won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle for the Mustangs in the boys meet while Kale Freeman won the diving and the 100 freestyle. Nick Hall also won the 100 butterfly.

The 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams also won for Fountain Central.

The Mustangs will compete in today's Wabash River Conference preliminaries at Seeger High School.
