LOCAL ROUNDUP: DACC wraps up strong trip

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. —  The Danville Area Community College baseball team wrapped up a strong season-opening trip with a 13-3 win over Westmoreland on Friday.

Heath Reynolds was 3-of-4 with three RBIs for the Jaguars, who had nine hits and also took advantage of six Westmoreland errors, while Mike Walker had two hits and an a RBI and Aaron Kuper, Trevor Jennings and Tyler Minogue each had one RBI.

David Anderson got the win for DACC, going five innings with four strikeouts and gave up only two hits.

The Jaguars are 7-1 after their trip and will have their first home game Wednesday against Vincennes College.

McGuire makes it to state


PEKIN — Danville’s Devyn McGuire was able to get a spot in next week’s Class 4A long-distance shootout but being one of the top shooters in the Pekin sectional.

McGuire will be one of 32 competitors in the preliminary round in Normal on Thursday.
