LOCAL ROUNDUP: Illini football tix go on sale Tuesday

CHAMPAIGN — Single game tickets for the 2013 University of Illinois football season will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday through the Illinois ticket office.

The Illini will have seven home games on 2013, including three in the season’s first five weeks. The non-conference games against Southern Illinois on Aug. 31, Cincinnati on Sept. 7 and the Dad’s Day game against Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 28 will be $39 each.

For three of the four Big Ten Conference games, against Wisconsin on Oct. 19, the Homecoming game against Michigan State on Oct. 26 and the regular season finale against Northwestern on Nov. 30 is $49 each with the other Big Ten game against Ohio State on Nov. 16 going for $60 each.

Sideline season tickets are still available for as low as $230 and student season tickets are available for $99. A limited number of $99 family rate season tickets in the Horseshoe remain available.

There are also tickets available for the Chicago Homecoming game on Sept. 14 at Soldier Field against Washington for as low as $30.

Fans can purchase tickets online at www.fightingillini.com, call toll free at 1-866-ILLINI-1 or in person at the ticket office at State Farm Center.

Robinson to go to

Augustana


ROCK ISLAND — Former Danville High School boys soccer player Luke Robinson will be going to Augustana College in the fall.

The 5-foot-10 inch Robinson was the team captain in his senior season with the Vikings and was an honorable mention on the Commercial-News All-Area Soccer team and earned scholar athlete recognition from the Big 12 Conference.

Robinson was also the 2013 class valedictorian, and AP scholar and an Illinois Student Assistance Commission State Scholar.

Augustana had a 6-9-3 record last season and will start the season on Aug. 30 against Taylor College in Wheaton.

Haynes gets Academic

All-Conference


MONMOUTH — Bismarck’s Megan Haynes, a junior player for the Monmouth College women’s soccer team, was named to the Midwest Conference All-Academic team for the 2012-13 season.

Haynes, a business major, was one of 77 total athletes from Monmouth to get the honor, which goes to student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of at least 3.33 during the academic year.
