LOCAL ROUNDUP: Comet baseball rallies against Bearcats

OAKWOOD — Davin Miles hit a triple in the sixth and Cody McClintock drove him in with a single as the Oakwood baseball team got past Milford 5-4 in Vermilion Valley Conference action on Friday.

Miles, Cameron Cawley and Ryan Bott each had one RBI while Kaleb Thompson got the win on the mound for Oakwood, who is 9-4 and 6-2 in the VVC and will play Schlarman today.

GEORGETOWN — Dylan Dodd had eight strikeouts and struck out the side in the seventh inning to clinch the game for the Blue Devils.

Dustyn Ingram had two hits and scored both runs for Bismarck-Henning; the first on a RBI hit by Kane Richmond and scored the second run on a passed ball.

The Blue Devils are 9-7 and will face Armstrong-Potomac on Monday.

Lucas Barham had two hits for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman.

JAMAICA — Noah Darr hit a home run and had two RBIs as the Storm beat the Trojans in five innings.

Garrett McFadden had three hits and two RBIs for Salt Fork while Cole Taylor had two RBIs and Ross Learnard, Cole Sanford and Max Stutsman each had one.

The Storm is 11-5 and 8-1 in the VVC and will play Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman today.

WESTVILLE — Kylie Lesko gave up only four hits on the mound and drove in a run at the plate as the Tigers shutout the Cornjerkers.

Ashley Hoffman, Morgan Gallion and Katie Swisher each had one RBI for Westville, who is 8-6 and 6-3 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Milford for a makeup game today.

GEORGETOWN — Megan Burris had two RBIs as the Buffaloes defeated the Blue Devils.

Catie Brandt and winning pitcher Lexi Silva each had one RBI for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman while Brandt had two hits.

Lexi Ballard had the lone RBI for Bismarck-Henning.

MUNCIE — Kathleen Townsley and Madison Carleton each had three RBIs as the Comets beat the Bearcats in five innings.

Hannah Grubb had two RBIs for Oakwood while Kaylee Morgan, Somer Wells, Nikki Weyah, Makenzie Gayler and winning pitcher Breanna Wright each had one RBI.

The Comets are 3-11 and 2-5 in the VVC and will play Paris on Monday.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Rebecca Cloud had three hits and four RBIs as the Patriots won out in six innings over North Montgomery.

Tori Munson had two hits and three RBIs and Makenna Cronk had three hits and scored three runs for Seeger, who is 4-10.

Storm takes fifth

at Monticello


MONTICELLO — Jenny Kimbro and Abby Nicholson each won an event as Salt Fork was fifth out of 19 teams as the Lady Sages Invitational.

Kimbro won the 100 meter hurdles (15.26 seconds) while Nicholson won the shot put (34 feet, 10¾ inches). Kimbro was also second in the long jump (16-6½) and third in the 300 hurdles (46.32).

Salt Fork’s Rachel Negangard was second in the discus (112-05) and fifth in the shot put (32-6) for the Storm while the 400 relay team took fourth (52.02).

Janelle Marion was third in the long jump for Schlarman Academy (15-10) while Summer Kitchens was sixth in the high jump (4-8) and Cheyenne Sadlek was sixth in the long jump (15-1½) for Oakwood.
