LOCAL ROUNDUP: Blue Devils rally to defeat Tigers

BISMARCK —  The Bismarck-Henning girls basketball team started the new year off with a 43-32 win over Westville in Vermilion Valley Conference action.

Brooke Walsh had 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Blue Devils, who was down 22-18 at halftime, but outscored the Tigers 25-10 in the second half.

Jessica Hall had nine and Addie Voyles added eight for Bismarck-Henning while Lexi Ballard had six and Maddie Winkler had five assists.

Ashley Hoffman had a game-high 17 points with four assists for Westville, while Morgan Gallion had seven points.

The Blue Devils are 6-12 and 3-3 in the VVC and will face on Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Monday. Westville will host Armstrong-Potomac on Monday.

ARMSTRONG — Johanna Bruens had 10 points as the Trojans easily defeated the Cardinals.

Morgan Zindars had eight points for Armstrong-Potomac, while Rachel Miles had six and Courtney Hambleton and Mackenzie Vinson each had five.

Sarah Ellis had five to lead Chrisman while Abby Bush had four.

Chrisman will travel to Shiloh on Monday.

MILFORD — Cornisha Allen had 14 points as the Bearcats pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Comets.

Mindy Garrelts had 11 points and nine rebounds for Milford, who was down 23-22 at halftime and was only up 33-32 after the third, while Erin McNally had seven points with five steals, Kylie Thrush had five points and Alissa Totheroh had four points and four assists.

Lexy Terry had 12 points for Oakwood while Makayla Gayler had eight and Sadie Edwards added six.

Milford will play Watseka on Saturday while the Comets will take on Hoopeston Area on Monday.

ATTICA, Ind. — Maci Kyger had 27 points, nine rebounds and 10 steals as the Red Ramblers beat the Trojans in Wabash River Conference action.

Kyger had nine points in the first quarter as Attica took a 25-9 lead. Ashley Mitton had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Red Ramblers and Kaylynn Kirkpatrick added 11.

Aliah Larsen had 13 to lead Covington, while Avery Chezem had nine, Regan Foster added eight and Andi Taylor and Olivia Kagels each had six.

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Six Mustangs picked up pinfall wins as they were able to defeat the Athenians at home.

Jaren Oakley (120 pounds), Clint Byers (126), Matthew McMasters (138), Kyle Brewer (152), Trevor Loveall (160) and Billy Pigg (195) each got pins for Fountain Central while Alex Fay (285) won by decision.

The Mustangs are 18-3 in dual meets and will travel to Crawfordsville on Saturday for the Athenian Invitational.
