LOCAL ROUNDUP: Trojans get first win

MILFORD — Jon Snyder’s two-run homer in the fourth inning was the all the offense the Armstrong-Potomac Trojans needed to get their first victory in the prep baseball season.

Armstrong-Potomac, which had lost its first nine games, added an insurance run in the fifth as the Trojans defeated the Milford Bearcats 3-1 in a Vermilion Valley Conference baseball game.

Dentler Loschen, who drove home the run in the fifth, allowed just one run and four hits to get the victory for the Trojans.

Milford scored its only run in the third inning as Clayton Rieches drove home Jacob Henning.

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Steven Schall went 2-for-3 with three runs scored as the Patriots defeated the Chargers in a non-conference contest.

Seeger, which improved to 6-1 overall, finished with 16 hits, including six doubles and a home run.

Jordan Stover had three of those hits, including the home run; while Zach Stitt and Josh Orahood each had three hits for the Patriots.

Stitt, Stover, Orahood and Steven Schall led Seeger with two RBIs each.

Caleb Orahood went the distance to get the victory for the Patriots.

Seeger returns to Wabash River Conference action today with a 4:30 p.m. (Eastern) contest at Fountain Central.

MILFORD — Nine is enough for the Trojans.

Armstrong-Potomac, which had no substitutes available in Monday’s contest against Milford, held off a fifth-inning rally to beat the Bearcats.

Morgan Zindars, the winning pitcher for the Trojans (5-4 overall, 3-3 in the VVC), had a single, a double and an RBI; while Makenzie Vinson had two singles and an RBI.

Erin McNally and Madison Luecke each had two hits for Milford, which falls to 1-6 overall.

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — In a game that featured four lead changes, the Patriots came up short against the Lady Athenians.

Seeger (3-7) led 3-2 after the first inning and 9-7 after a six-run third, but a four-run seventh for Crawfordsville was just too much to overcome.

Senior Kay Irvine led the Patriots offensive attack with four hits and two RBIs, while junior Tori Munson and senior Makenna Cronk each finished with three hits for Seeger.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Matt Oilar had a birdie and two pars to shoot a 6-over 42, earning medalist honors as the Red Ramblers defeated the Chargers by 25 strokes at Rocky Ridge Golf Course.

Attica, which improves to 1-0, also got a pair of 45s from Sam Carlson and Austin Bossaer, while Jackson Stoll rounded out the Red Ramblers attack with a 48.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Kenny Little had the top finish for the Red Ramblers, winning the high jump with a leap of 6 feet.

North Montgomery won the team title with 79 points, followed by Clinton Central with 55 and Attica was next with 22.

Little was also second in the 200- and 400-meter dashes for Attica, while Kyland freeland was third in the 100 and 200 races.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Jessica DeSutter won the 400-meter dash and finished second in the 100 and 200 races for the Red Ramblers.

Clinton Central won the triangular meet with 80 points, with North Montgomery (45) taking second and Attica (31) was third.

Katherine Poston was second in the discus (69 feet, 1 inch) to go along with a third in the 400, while Lexie Clark was third in the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the high jump.
