COVINGTON, Ind. — Ethan Snyder and Toby Howard each pulled out three-set victories for the Trojans but it wasn’t enough.
Snyder’s win at No. 1 singles (2-6, 6-4, 6-3) and Howard’s victory at No. 2 singles (6-3, 1-6, 6-2) were the ones for Covington as North Montgomery won both doubles matches and the contest at No. 3 singles.
Bis-Henn 2, Milford 0
MILFORD — The Blue Devils opened Vermilion Valley Conference play with a 25-22, 25-20 win over the Bearcats.
Maddie Winkler had a team-high 14 assists to lead Bismarck-Henning (2-2 overall, 1-0 VVC) to its second straight victory. Mary Bass and Jessica Hall shared team-high honors in kills (4), while Bass and Stephanie Bott each had three blocks for the Blue Devils. Other leaders for Bismarck-Henning were Lindsey Andrews with eight digs and Emily Ronto with two aces.
Up next for the Blue Devils is Thursday’s home conference match against the Schlarman Academy Hilltoppers.
Armstrong-Potomac 2, Westville 0
WESTVILLE — The Trojans earned a win in their VVC opener, beating the Tigers 25-23, 25-16.
Mikayla Rolinitis had a team-high four digs and three aces for Westville.
Covington 3, Rockville 0
COVINGTON, Ind. — Brooke Ahrens had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 assists as the Trojans swept the Rox, 25-19, 27-25, 25-18.
She also had a team-high four aces for Covington, as Kendra Wallace led the team with 24 digs and Adison Smith had 15 assists. Joining Ahrens with 10 kills was Rachel Hannah.
North Montgomery 3, Fountain Central 0
VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Kyla Keeling had team-highs in assists (8) and digs (7) for the Mustangs in a losing cause.
Fountain Central, which lost in three games, 25-23, 25-6, 25-8, also got eight kills from Macee Williams and she also contributed a team-high five blocks.
First Baptist 2, Cornerstone Christian 0
DANVILLE — Hannah Wells had four kills, six assists and two aces as First Baptist defeated Cornerstone Christian, 25-12, 25-23.
The Knights, which improved to 2-2 overall, also got six digs from Mai Lin Davis.
