---- — BISMARCK — The Bismarck-Henning volleyball team got its first win of the season Monday with a 25-20, 25-23 win over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley after two tough losses to start the season.
The Blue Devils lost 2-0 to St. Joseph-Ogden in their opener and then lost 2-1 to Danville, but Blue Devils Coach Susan Kentner saw major improvement over GCMS.
“SJO is a competitive team and against Danville, we had our opportunities to win and we just didn’t take advantage of them,” Kentner said. “Tonight, we made the most of our chances and our serving improved as well.”
Mary Bass has 10 kills for Bismarck-Henning while Maddie Winkler had 13 assists and two aces, Stephanie Bott had the kills and three blocks while Jessica Hall had two aces and three blocks.
The Blue Devils are 1-2 and will face Milford tonight.

PAXTON — The Comets took a non-conference loss on the road to the Panthers, losing 25-11, 26-24.
Oakwood will stay on the road on Thursday as it plays Chrisman.
First Baptist 2 Calvary Christian 1
DANVILLE — Hannah Wells had seven kills, 16 assists and five aces as the Knights got their first win of the season 29-27, 12-25, 25-20.
Mattie Bumpus and Ashley Shook each had five kills for First Baptist and Mai Lin Davis had 18 digs for First Baptist, who are 1-2 and will play Cornerstone Christian today.

ROCKVILLE, Ind. — Toby Howard had the lone singles win for the Trojans as they lost to the Rox.
Chase Nobe and Andrew Green won in doubles for Covington, who will host North Montgomery today.
Heartland 3 DACC 2
DANVILLE — The Jaguars took the lead two different times, but could not overcome the taller team from Heartland.
“They were able to outjump us on corner kicks and that was how they got most of their goals,” DACC coach David Barney said. “We had some mental mistakes late in the game as well.”
Jared Buzzard had a assist and a goal for the Jaguars while Edgar Vila had a goal and Ben Wynn had a assist.
The Jaguars are 0-3 and will play Joliet Junior College on Wednesday.
