Bis-Henn wins first game

BISMARCK — The Bismarck-Henning volleyball team got its first win of the season Monday with a 25-20, 25-23 win over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley after two tough losses to start the season.

The Blue Devils lost 2-0 to St. Joseph-Ogden in their opener and then lost 2-1 to Danville, but Blue Devils Coach Susan Kentner saw major improvement over GCMS.

“SJO is a competitive team and against Danville, we had our opportunities to win and we just didn’t take advantage of them,” Kentner said. “Tonight, we made the most of our chances and our serving improved as well.”

Mary Bass has 10 kills for Bismarck-Henning while Maddie Winkler had 13 assists and two aces, Stephanie Bott had the kills and three blocks while Jessica Hall had two aces and three blocks.

The Blue Devils are 1-2 and will face Milford tonight.
