Peelman strikes out 11 for Danville softball

URBANA — Alissa Peelman had 11 strikeouts and only allowed four hits as the Danville softball team defeate Urbana 15-2 in five innings in Big 12 Conference action.

Whitney Spencer had three hits, including a double, with two RBIs for the Vikings, while Katy Aguirre had two RBIs.

The Vikings are 10-10 and 5-2 in the Big 12 and will play Champaign Centennial on Thursday.

Milford 6, Schlarman 2

DANVILLE — Mindy Garrelts gave up four hits and struck out seven batters as the Bearcats defeated the Hilltoppers.

Garrelts also had a triple and two RBIs for Milford, while Sierra Fanning and Taylor Simpson each added one RBI.

Maisey Johnson had one RBI for Schlarman Academy, while Maria Rangel had four strikeouts on the mound.

The Bearcats are 9-11 and 3-8 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Schlarman again on Friday. The Hilltoppers will play Salt Fork today.

Watseka 13, Oakwood 5

MUNCIE — Madison Carleton had three hits and one RBI but it was not enough as the Comets lost to the Warriors.

Kylie Harden, Casey Pierce and Kayla Thompson also had one RBI for Oakwood, who will face Westville today.

Attica 7, Fountain Central 6

ATTICA, Ind. — The Red Ramblers rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Mustangs.

Winning pitcher Carly Stoll had a solo home run for Attica, while Karrah Pattengale had two RBIs and Alexis Burris and Tricia Boyer each added one RBI.

Mary Frazee and Katelyn Mitchell each had two RBIs for Fountain Central while Audrey McGrady added one RBI.

The Mustangs will play Crawfordsville today while the Red Ramblers will take on Fountain Central again on Thursday.

Covington 7, Seeger 1

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Ali Holmes gave up only four hits on the mound and had three hits with two RBIs at the plate as the Trojans beat the Patriots.

Andi Taylor had two hits and three RBIs for Covington, while Courtney Root and Dailynn Hardy each had one RBI.
