Brazas, Tigers take down Bearcats

---- — WESTVILLE — Kyle Brazas had 11 strikeouts and gave up only three hits as the Westville baseball team beat Milford 9-3 in Vermilion Valley Conference action on Thursday.

Tyler Dicken had two RBIs for the Tigers, while Tristan Flynn, Adam High, Tanner Cox and Austin Millholland each had one RBI.

Clayton Reiches had a triple and a RBI for Milford, while Alex Portwood and Jordan Gullquist also added one RBI.

The Tigers will play Hoopeston Area today while the Bearcats will take on Oakwood.

Paris 16, GRFC 8

PARIS — Tyler Lunger had two hits and two RBIs but it was not enough as the lost to the Tigers.

Dylan Bina had three hits with one RBI for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, while Rylee Goodwin and Ethan Silva each had two hits and one RBI and Jake Brasker had one RBI.

The Buffaloes will take on Bismarck-Henning today.

Hoopeston Area 6 Armstrong-Potomac 4

HOOPESTON — Kendall Walder had 12 strikeouts as the Cornjerkers defeated the Trojans.

Andrew Samet had two hits and two RBIs for Hoopeston Area, while Kade Ramos had a home run.

Dentler Loschen had nine strikeouts on the mound for Armstrong-Potomac, while Isiah Robles had two hits and a RBI.

The Cornjerkers will play Westville today while the Trojans will take on Salt Fork.

Fountain Central 10, Covington 5

COVINGTON, Ind. — Wayde Bentley and Cole Snyder each had two hits and three RBIs as the Mustangs beat the Trojans.

Winning pitcher Issac Trueblood had two hits and two RBIs for Fountain Central, while Jaren Oakley had two hits and one RBI.

Peyton Cuttrell had a home run and two RBIs for Covington, who will play Crawfordsville on Saturday.

The Mustangs will take on Clinton Central on Saturday.


North Vermillion 12, Bismarck-Henning 7

CAYUGA, Ind. — Linzi Woodard had three RBIs as the Falcons got past the Blue Devils.

Melissa Moody had two hits and two RBIs for North Vermillion, while Kinsey West and Regan Woodard each had one RBI and Taylen Balding had three hits.

Lindsey Andrews and losing pitcher Emmie Hawkins each had three hits for Bismarck-Henning while Lani Andrews had two hits.

The Falcons are 5-8 and will play Attica on Saturday. The Blue Devils will play Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman today.

Milford 7, Westville 3

WESTVILLE — Mindy Garrelts gave up three hits on the mound and hit a home run and drove in two as the Bearcats defeated the Tigers.

Sierra Fanning had three hits with two RBIs for Milford while Taylor Simpson added one RBI.

Kylie Lesko and Ji’Cee Lacey each had one RBI for Westville, who is 5-10 and 3-7 in the VVC and will take on Hoopeston Area today.

The Bearcats will play Oakwood today.

GCMS 7, Hoopeston Area 1

HOOPESTON — Karsin Miethe had two hits and drove in the only run for the Cornjerkers as they lost to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.

Losing pitcher Rylee Martin had two hits for Hoopeston Area, who is 8-5.

Carroll 10, Attica 0

FLORA, Ind. — The Redf Ramblers could only muster four hits as they were shutout in six innings by Carroll.

Alexis Burris, Karrah Pattengale, Carly Stoll and Tricia Boyer had the hits for Attica.


North Vermillion 188, North Central 213

COVINGTON, Ind. — Will Martin was the medalist with a 37 as the Falcons won their first dual meet of the season at Rivercrest Golf Course.

Braeden Hollowell had a 43 for North Vermillion while Kayleb Stephens had a 52 and Riley Garner added a 56.

The Falcons will take a week off and play Covington on Thursday.


Fountain Central 5, Attica 0

ATTICA, Ind. — Clare McGrady, Hannah Cox and Alli Fay each won in singles matches for the Mustangs as they swept the Red Ramblers.

The doubles teams of Abby Moore and Jordan Lindquist and CJ Bowman and Chynna Yager also won for Fountain Central, who are 8-4 and will play Seeger on Tuesday.
