TERRE HAUTE, Ind. —
Dylan Marble made his varsity debut for the Danville Vikings on Wednesday night.
While the result, a 5-1 loss to Terre Haute South, was disappointing, Marble still showed Danville coach Gary Gritton quite a bit.
“Dylan gave us a quality start against a talented offensive club,’’ Gritton said. “For the bulk of the game, he did a very nice job of hitting spots, and most impressive, he did not walk a batter in his first varsity outing.’’
The Braves, who improved to 5-4 with the victory, scored three times in the first inning against Marble.
Preston Tofaute and Austin Solver drove home runs for Terre Haute South, which also added two runs in the sixth.
Danville got its only run in the top of sixth with Gabe Garza picking up the RBI.
The Vikings, who fall to 4-4 overall, are scheduled to open Big 12 Conference play this afternoon in Champaign.
Danville is suppose to play Champaign Central in a 4:30 p.m. contest at McKinley Field.
