Emmet Black hit a two-run walk off single in the seventh inning to complete a big comeback for the Schlarman Academy baseball team as they defeated Hoopeston Area 4-3 Monday at Danville Stadium.
Before Black’s single, Austin Calhoun had a one-out two-RBI double to start the rally after the Hilltoppers entered the seventh down 3-0.
Up until then, Schlarman could not do anything against Hoopeston Area’s Aiden Berg, who ended up with four strikeouts. The Cornjerkers scored two runs in the fourth and scored a run in the sixth. Chase Vandeveer had a RBI for Hoopeston Area while Andrew Samet had two hits.
Dalton Dieu struck out seven to get the win for the Hilltoppers, who are 6-10 and 6-2 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Salt Fork today.
The Cornjerkers are 3-12 and will play Bismarck-Henning today.
BISMARCK — Dylan Dodd drove in Austin Reffett in the seventh inning for the only run of the game as the Blue Devils got past the Trojans.
Dustyn Ingram gave up only two hits to get the win for Bismarck-Henning, who is 5-7.
Wade Rogers picked up the loss for Armstrong-Potomac, who will host Mahomet-Seymour today.

JAMAICA — Colton Baird hit a home run with two RBIs as the Storm defeated the Tigers.
Cole Sanford, Lane Weston and winning pitcher Cole Taylor each had two RBIs for Salt Fork, while Max Stutsman had one RBI.
Tyler Dicken and Jeffery Thompson each had two hits for Westville, who will host Oakwood on Wednesday.
The Storm is 12-6 and 8-2 in the VVC.
MILFORD — The Bearcats scored two runs in each the fifth and sixth innings as they got past the Buffaloes.
Clayton Rieches had 12 strikeouts on the mound for Milford while driving in one run at the plate, while Tanner Davenport, Ryley Ward and Wyatt Alt each had one RBI.
Ethan Silva had a solo home run for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman while Cory Webster and losing pitcher Trevor Price each had one RBI.
The Bearcats will play Hoopeston Area on Thursday.

DANVILLE — Sydne Bryant had two hits and three RBIs as the Hilltoppers beat the Cornjerkers in six innings.
Lexi Rangel had two hits and two RBIs for Schlarman, while Joslyn Dietzen had two RBIs. Maria Rangel had five strikeouts for the Hilltoppers, who are 8-10 and 6-2 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Salt Fork on Wednesday.
Rylee Martin had five strikeouts for Hoopeston Area.
ARMSTRONG — Emmie Hawkins had two RBIs as the Blue Devils rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to get the win over the Trojans.
Masyn Clough had one RBI for Bismarck-Henning, who is 6-7 and 5-4 in the VVC and will play Hoopeston Area today.
Johanna Bruens had two RBIs for Armstrong-Potomac, who will play Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman on Wednesday.
WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Madison Hanson had five RBIs as the Trojans defeated the Patriots.
Aliah Larsen had three hits and three RBIs and Mallory Ponder had one RBI for Covington, who is 6-7.
McKenna Mitchell had a two-RBI double for Seeger, who is 4-11 and 0-5 in the Wabash River Conference.
Both teams play again today at Covington.

ATTICA, Ind. — Carly Stoll gave up only one hit and struck out four as the Red Ramblers shut out North White.
Maci Kyger and Karrah Pattengale each had three hits for Attica, while Pattengale, Ashley Mitton and Alexis Burris each had one RBI.

COVINGTON, Ind. — The doubles teams of Meghan Lowe and Lauren Paddock and Chloe Shields and Raenen Petit each had wins as the Trojans defeated the Warriors.
Bailey Hill and Mackensey Sorrell each picked up singles wins for Covington, who is 4-2 and 4-1 in the Wabash River Conference and will play South Vermillion today.
Illinois wins fifth straight Big Ten title
FRENCH LICK, Ind. — The Illini shot a five over par 293 on Sunday to win their fifth straight Big Ten Championship by nine strokes over Minnesota.
Thomas Pieters won the Big Ten medalist honors with a score of 284 (-4) for Illinois, who is coached by Danville native Mike Small, while Brian Campbell and Thomas Detry also made the top 10.
Illinois is the first team to win at least five straight titles since Ohio State won six in a row from 1982-87 and it is only the fourth time a team has won five or more straight titles.
The Illini will play in NCAA regional action from May 16-18.
Dupree wins senior tournament
DANVILLE — Cliff Dupree, a Danville Area Bowling Association Hall of Famer, defeated No. 1 seed Charlie Graul on Sunday by three pins to win the Danville Senior Tournament at Lincoln Lanes.
The tournament had close to 40 bowlers over the weekend bowl at Lincoln Lanes and at Bulan’s Bowl.
