The Schlarman girls basketball team put up an early notice to the Vermilion Valley Conference on Monday, defeating Bismarck-Henning 52-45 for the first time in over a decade.
Sydne Bryant led all scorers with 22 points, including six 3-pointers for the Hilltoppers, who was down 26-25 at halftime before outscoring the Blue Devils 27-19 in the second half.
Janelle Marion had 14 points while Sierra Bell added nine points.
Abby Bergman led the way for Bismarck-Henning with 21 points while Addie Voyles and Brooke Walsh each had six points and Maddie Winkler and Jessica hall each had four.
The Hilltoppers are 4-2 and 2-0 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play Danville on Saturday. The Blue Devils will play Covington today.

WESTVILLE — Ashley Hoffman had 16 points, six rebounds and five steals for the Tigers as they defeated the Cornjerkers.
Danielle Gabehart had 14 points with 12 rebounds for Westville, who had a 34-15 lead at halftime, while JoDee Ottino had eight points and Ji’Cee Lacey added seven points.
Shelby Holzinger had 15 points to lead Hoopeston Area while Olivia Smith had 11 and Tori Smock, Haley Dixon and Sarah Dixon each had six.
The Tigers are 3-6 and 1-0 in the VVC and will face Oakwood on Thursday while the Cornjerkers will play Bismarck-Henning on Thursday
FITHIAN — Harlena Hardin had 15 points as the Comets pulled out a thriller with the Cardinals.
Lexy Terry had 12 points for Oakwood, while Sadie Edwards added seven.
Sarah Ellis led Chrisman with 15 points, while Chey Warner had 12 and Abbi Bush and Shelby Warner each had six.
Chrisman will play Salt Fork on Thursday.
MILFORD — Samantha Wilken had 20 points with 10 rebounds as the Bearcats got past the Trojans.
Erin McNally had 11 points and three assists for Milford, who was up 20-18 at halftime, while Kylie Thrush had 11 rebounds.
Morgan Zindars led Armstrong-Potomac with 14 points while Rachel Miles and Erika Sieberns each had seven and Johanna Bruens added six.
Milford will host Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Thursday while the Trojans will play Salt Fork on Monday.
