LOCAL ROUNDUP: Lady Vikings take season finale

DECATUR —  The Danville volleyball team’s regular season ended on a high note on Tuesday, defeating Decatur Eisenhower 25-22, 25-21 in Big 12 Conference action.

Jordan Ogle, Alexus Jimson-Miller and Mackenzie King each had three kills while Alyia Wilson had two for the Vikings, while King had five aces and Lynette Buggs had a block.

Danville will now get ready for playoff action on Oct. 22, when they play Minooka in regional play at Joliet West High School.

Schlarman 2

DANVILLE — Jordan Marganski had seven kills and nine assists as the Hilltoppers remained undefeated in the Vermilion Valley Conference with a 25-9, 25-17 win over the Trojans.

Laura Gross had five kills, eight assists and six blocks for Schlarman while Ella Black had 10 digs and Sierra Bell had seven digs.

Megan Porter had four kills for Armstrong-Potomac while Erika Sieberns had three kills and two blocks, and Morgan Zindars had six assists and eight digs.

The Trojans are 13-8 and 7-3 in the VVC and will take on Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Thursday while the Hilltoppers are 15-2 and 10-0 in the VVC and will travel to Hoopeston Area on Thursday.

CATLIN — Britton Seaman had five kills and three blocks as the Storm beat the Buffaloes 25-20, 25-23.

Jessica Muelhler had four kills for Salt Fork while Allie Trosper and Kristen Thornsbrough each had six assists.

Taylor Smith had seven kills and three blocks for Georgetown-Ridge Farm while Lexi Silva had six kills and Kelsey Buckman had four kills, eight digs and two aces.

The Storm are 10-11 and 7-3 in the VVC and will play Chrisman on Thursday.

Bismarck-Henning 2

BISMARCK — Brittany Spicer had five kills as the Blue Devils beat the Cornjerkers 25-10, 25-19.

Taylor Ellis had three aces and seven assists for Bismarck-Henning while Mary Bass had four kills and two blocks, Abby Bergman had three aces, two kills, six digs and four blocks and Morgan Gerbsch had 10 digs.

The Blue Devils are 12-6 and 7-3 in the VVC and will face Milford on Thursday.

Chrisman 2

Oakwood 1

CHRISMAN — Brett Bishop had three kills, three blocks, three digs and a ace as the Cardinals won 25-22, 19-25, 26-24 over the Comets.

Shelby Warner had five kills for Chrisman while Dana Mitchell had six assists and Bridget Mattingly had 10 digs.

The Cardinals are 13-10 and 6-4 in the VVC.


LaFoe makes state

URBANA — Salt Fork junior Courtney LaFoe will be the only local golfer in the Class 1A girls state tournament this weekend after qualifying at Stone Creek Golf Course.

LaFoe shot a 92 to make it as a qualifying individual without a team for the state tournament, which will be held at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur.

MAHOMET — The Blue Devils rallied in the second half with goals by Andrew Samet and Brennan Crose as they defeated the Bulldogs in their final regular season game.

Chase Bouse had an assist for Bismarck-Henning while Ryan Morgan and Trey Anderson combines for 11 saves in goal.

The Blue Devils are 13-7-1 and will start regional play Saturday against Danville.
