BUTLER, PA. — The Danville Dans broke a five-game losing streak on Saturday with a 3-1 win over the Butler Blue Sox on Saturday.
The Dans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third when a pickoff attempt went errant, scoring Gabe Acevedo and would add two more runs in the seventh on a double by Dylan Alexander and a sacrifice fly by Acevedo.
Cody Herald hit a home run for Butler, but that was all the Blue Sox could do against the Dans’ pitching.
Garrison Stenger got the win for Danville, giving up only two hits with two strikeouts. Danville native Chase Thurston pitched the eighth and gave up one hit and Kyle Royalty also gave up one hit in the ninth for the save.
The Dans are 1-5 in the second half of the season and is 20-16 overall going into the All-Star Break and Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Terre Haute, Ind.
Danville has 10 players in the game with Austin Bryant, Ronnie Jebavy, Tyler Selesky and C.J. Burdick starting and Curtis Olvey, Paddy O’Brien, Cody Gardner and Cam Wysocki in as reserves.
