LORAIN, Ohio — The Danville Dans’ losing streak hit four games on Thursday after losing to the Lorain County Ironmen 5-4.
The Dans tied the game up at 4-4 in the ninth when an error on Lorain County third baseman Billy Salem gave Danville’s Gabe Acevedo enough time to score.
But in the bottom of the inning, Kyle Chontos won the game for the Ironmen with a bases-loaded single.
Danville native and current Eastern Illinois University pitcher Chase Thurston took the loss in his first action as a Dan, going 1 and 1/3 innings and give up a run on two hits and struck out three batters.
After the Ironmen scored in the first, the Dans got on the board in the second with a single by Dylan Alexander to tie things up.
Lorain County scored again in the third before Danville took a 3-2 lead with a RBI double by Cody Gardner, who would later score in the inning.
The Dans are 19-15 overall and 0-4 in the second half of the season and will try to break the losing streak today at Butler.
