QUINCY — The Danville Dans were coming off one of their best offensive performances with a 10-0 win at Hannibal on Friday, but fell to earth with a 4-3 loss to the Quincy Gems on Saturday.
After Quincy scored the first two runs of the game in the first inning, Danville cut into the lead in the second inning on a RBI single by Cody Gardner.
The Gems scored two more runs in the third to take a 4-1 lead, but Curtis Olney got the Dans back in the game in the sixth with a two-RBI double. But Danville could not get the lead.
AJ Childerson took the loss for the Dans, giving up seven hits and striking out two. Kyle Royalty pitched four innings in relief and gave up only one hit with three strikeouts.
The Dans drop to 7-8 and will next play Monday against the Terre Haute Rex at 7:05 p.m. EST
