BUFFALO GROVE — The Danville girls tennis team started action at the IHSA state tournament on Thursday and by the end of the day, the team of Rachael and Becca Lewis was still alive for the Vikings.
The Lewis sisters defeated Elmhurst Timothy Christian’s Abigail Kumar and Erin Van Kampen before 6-0, 6-0 and Rockford Guilford’s Lilly Endsley and Linnea Endsley 6-2, 6-2 before losing to Winnetka New Trier’s Cammy Frei and Lily Schroeder 6-2, 6-2.
The team plays in the fourth round of the consolation tournament today against Max Mella and Courtney Sunday of Gurnee Warren.
“Rachael and Becca did what we expected them to do in the first two rounds, but they ran into a good team in the third round,” Danville coach Mark Bacys said. “We hope they can come in and make a move in the back bracket.”
The other doubles team of Amy Shah and Neha Patel lost to Oak Park River Forest’s Taylor Arends and Tess Trinka 6-0, 6-0, defeated Elmhurst Timothy Christian’s Sarah Dirkse and Annika Zeilstra 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3), 6-1 and lost to Oak Park Fenwick’s Dana Balk and Ana Sprajcer 6-3, 6-2.
In singles, Taylor Ellis lost to Edwardsville’s Callaghan Adams 6-3, 6-1, defeated Rockford Boylan’s Megan Collins 6-3, 6-0 and lost to Mattoon’s Molly Nguyen 6-0, 6-1.
Amanda Vadenboncoeur lost to Springfield Sacred-Heart Griffin’s Sydney Lynch 6-0, 6-0 and Rock Island Alleman’s Alexandra Keer 6-1, 6-3.

DANVILLE — Lindsey Loewenstein had five kills and three aces as the Vikings won their regular season finale 25-23, 25-17 over the Tigers.
Ashley Forthenberry had four kills and two blocks for Danville while Mackenzie King and Alexis Hoskins each had four kills, Michaela Jones and Ambrosia Williams each had three aces and Desiree Issac had two kills.
The Vikings will host a Class 4A regional and will start play Monday against Bradley-Bournbonnais at 7 p.m.
Salt Fork 2 Westville 1
WESTVILLE — Britton Seamon had eight kills, four blocks and five digs as the Storm won 25-21, 23-25, 25-18 over the Tigers.
Jenny Kimbro had eight kills and 11 digs and Emilie McFadden had eight kills and six digs for Salt Fork while Allie Trosper had 27 assists.
Lauren Barthalow had seven kills and three blocks for Westville while Adrianne Pate had four kills 12 assists and two blocks, Alexa Kantout had six kills and six blocks and Mariah Rolinitis had 11 digs.
The Storm end the season at 24-6 and 12-1 in the Vermilion Valley Conference and will play the winner of Monday’s Class 1A regional game between Oakwood and Hoopeston Area on Tuesday.

ARMSTRONG — Rachel Miles had 14 kills, two blocks and 22 digs as the Trojans beat the Blue Devils 16-25, 25-23, 25-23.
Morgna Zindars had 25 assists and three aces for Armstrong-Potomac while Macey Williams had five kills and three blocks, Amy Cook had five kills and Makenzie Vinson had six kills and 14 digs.
Mary Bass had 10 kills and four blocks for Bismarck-Henning while Jessica Hall had six kills and four blocks, Stephanie Bott had five kills and five blocks and Maddie Winkler had 22 assists.
The Trojans will play Cissna Park in Class 1A regional action on Tuesday while the Blue Devils drop to 15-9 and 8-5 in the VVC and will play either Westville or Georgetown-Ridge Farm in a Class 2A regional.

GEORGETOWN — Annelise Garrison had eight kills, but it was not enough as the Buffaloes lost to the Cardinals 15-25, 25-16, 25-16.
Lexi Silva had six kills, two blocks and two aces for Georgetown-Ridge Farm while Tristyn Mingee had four kills, two blocks and five aces, Levi Ovall had 10 assists and four aces and Hannah Brandt had eight assists.
The Buffaloes will play Westville on Monday in a Class 2A regional.
