Hilltoppers volleyball continues to roll in VVC

---- — DANVILLE — The Schlarman volleyball team continued to stay unbeaten in Vermilion Valley Conference play on Thursday with a 25-9, 25-7 win over Hoopeston Area.

Laura Gross had six kills, four assists and three digs for the Hilltoppers while Jordan Marganski had five kills, nine assists and three blocks, Janelle Marion had four kills and six assists and Shelby Mascari had four kills and four aces.

Schlarman is 15-3 and 11-0 in the VVC and will play in the Beecher Invitational on Saturday while the Cornjerkers will play Salt Fork, Georgetown-Ridge Farm and Bismarck-Henning in the Vermilion County Tournament on Saturday.

Salt Fork 2, Chrisman 1

CATLIN — Jenny Kimbro had 10 kills and three aces as the Storm beat the Cardinals 25-10, 15-25, 25-12.

Kayln Learnard had fivek kills, four aces and 13 digs for Salt Fork while Britton Seamon had five kills and three blocks and Allie Trosper had 20 assists.

The Storm are 19-5 and 10-1 in the VVC and will play Hoopeston Area, Bismarck-Henning and Georgetown-Ridge Farm at the Vermilion County Tournament on Saturday.

Bis-Henn 2, Milford 0

BISMARCK — Mary Bass had five kills, eight blocks, four aces and 15 digs as the Blue Devils beat the Bearcats 25-17, 25-19.

Stephanie Bott had five kills, eight blocks and six digs for Bismarck-Henning while Jessica Hall had three kills and four blocks, Lindsey Andrews had two kills, five blocks and 14 digs and Maddie Winkler had 17 assists.

The Blue Devils are 12-7 and 8-3 in the VVC and will take on Georgetown-Ridge Farm, Salt Fork and Hoopeston Area in action at the Vermilion County Tournament.

Westville 2, Oakwood 1

WESTVILLE — Alexa Kantout had four kills and three blocks as the Tigers got past the Comets 20-25, 25-20, 25-16.

Morgan Gallion had six assists and three aces for Westville while Mariah Rolinitis had two kills, two aces and five digs and Mikayla Rolinitis had nine digs and three aces.

The Tigers will play Oakwood and Armstrong-Potomac at the Vermilion County Tournament while Oakwood will play Armstrong-Potomac along with Westville.

ARMSTRONG — Morgan Zindars had 14 assists and 16 digs as the Trojans beat the Buffaloes 25-23, 25-8.

Makenzie Vinson had eight kills for Armstrong-Potomac while Rachel Miles had four kills and 20 digs, Macey Williams had four blocks and Courtney Hambleton had three aces.

Kelsey Buckman had eight kills and seven digs for Georgetown-Ridge Farm while Hannah Brandt had eight assists.

The Trojans will play Oakwood and Westville at the Vermilion County Tournament while the Buffaloes will play Bismarck-Henning, Hoopeston Area and Salt Fork.

Jr. High Cross Country

Local runners to compete in state meet

NORMAL — Two local teams will be in action along with four other individuals on Saturday at the IESA cross country meet at Maxwell Park in Normal.

In the boys Class 1A meet, Rossville-Alvin will be one of the full teams competing. They are led by Aaron Inda, who won the individual title in sectional action last week with a time of 11 minutes, 13 seconds.

Along with Rossville-Alvin, Danville Oakwood's Andy Hohn, and Georgetown Mary Miller's Ricky Lopez will also race in the meet.

North Ridge's Brandon Barfell will be competing in the Class 3A meet.

In the girls Class 1A meet, Danville Oakwood's entire team will be in the meet while Schlarman Academy's Chian Scott will also be in the race.
