What happens with a regularly scheduled doubleheader gets rained out?
It turns into a pair of doubleheaders later in the season.
That’s what occurred on Tuesday night at Danville Stadium.
The Springfield Sliders and the Danville Dans were scheduled to play a pair of seven-inning games.
Springfield came out firing with a 3-run first inning in the opener and that was as far as the teams would get on Tuesday night.
A combination of lighting and rain forced the first contest into a two-hour delay that eventually turned into a postponed game.
Now, the Sliders and the Dans will complete the first game on Saturday, July 20th, starting at 5 p.m. which will be followed by the originally scheduled nine-inning game.
The second game from Tuesday will be made up on Thursday, July 25th as part of a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m.
Danville, which is 12-9 in the Prospect League’s West Division, has had six games either postponed or suspended already this season.
Up next for the Dans is one of their suspended games.
Tonight, Danville and Hannibal will complete the June 1st game, tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, starting at 6 p.m. and that will be followed by the originally scheduled nine-inning game about 30 minutes after the completion of the suspended game.
