DANVILLE — The Danville Dans are returning the Prospect League Playoffs after their 8-4 win over the Springfield Sliders on Sunday night.
With Sunday's win and a doubleheader split between the Quincy Gems and the Hannibal Cavemen, the Dans are not only assured of playing in the Prospect League's West Division playoffs, but they hold a three-game lead over the Gems for the West Division title.
Casey Fletcher and Corbin Olmstead led the Danville offense on Sunday as both players finished with two hits and two RBIs in the victory.
Zach Gordon improved to 3-2 with the victory, while Jared Burton threw two more innings without allowing an earned run - he did allow an unearend run. So the left-hander hasn't allowed an earned run in 27 consecutive innings, lowering his team-leading ERA to 0.47.
Danville travels to Hannibal today for a doubleheader. The first game between the Dans and the Cavemen is scheduled to start at 6:05 p.m.
The next home game will be Tuesday against the Terre Haute Rex. First pitch at Danville Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. and it will be the final Two-Buck Tuesday, as admission, hot dogs and beverages will all be priced at $2.
