LOCAL ROUNDUP: Westville rallies to get past Oakwood

FITHIAN —  Ashley Hoffman had 10 points as Westville held on to defeat Oakwood 33-30 in Vermilion Valley Conference action on Thursday.

Dani Gabehart and Carson Richardson each had six for Westville, who was up 30-20 at halftime, while Ji’Cee Lacey had four.

Makayla Gayler had 12 points for Oakwood, while Delaney Durst and Sadie Edwards and Ameilia Burke each had four.

The Comets will try to rebound on Monday against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.

Milford 28

Bis-Henn 22

MILFORD — Senior Samantha Wilken had eight points seven rebounds and four steals as the Bearcats won on Senior Night against the Blue Devils.

Kylie Thursh had seven points and 10 rebounds for Milford, who was down 14-13 at halftime, but outscored Bismarck-Henning 15-8 in the second half, while Alissa Totheroh had five points.

Lindsay Andrews had a game-high 12 points for the Blue Devils, while Lexi Ballard had six points.

Salt Fork 37

Chrisman 35

CHRISMAN — Taylor Vice had seven points as the Storm got pas the Cardinals.

Toria Plotner had six points for Salt Fork, who was 23-20 at halftime, while Emilie McFadden and Jenny Kimbro each scored six.

Abby Bush had 12 points and nine rebounds for Chrisman, while Sarah Ellis had 10 and Chey Warner added seven.

The Cardinals are 5-19 and will play Westville on Monday while Salt Fork will take on Hoopeston Area today.

Seeger 53

South Newton 25

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Kirsten Irvine had 18 points as the Patriots more than doubled up South Newton.

Miranda Synesael had eight points for Seeger, who took the lead for good with a 18-7 second quarter, while Taylor Griswold and Shelby Brown each had six and Morgan Rademacher added five points.

The Patriots will travel to Fountain Central on Tuesday.

ROSSVILLE, Ind. — Ashley Mitton set a school record with 22 rebounds as the Red Ramblers won on the road.

Maci Kyger had 15 points and eight steals for Attica, who battle back from an 18-9 halftime deficit, while Kaylynn Kirkpatrick had nine points and Mitton added eight.

Calvary HF 47

DANVILLE — Jonathan Garver has 22 points as the Knights defeated Calvary Home Fires.

Zane Bumpus had 12 points for First Baptist, who was tied 22-22 at halftime and 35-35 after the third quarter before pulling away with a 16-12 fourth quarter, while Jermaine Brooks added 10.

HOOPESTON — Jacob Varns (195) and Justin Kindle (285) each had pinfall wins as the Cornjerkers defeated the Vikings.

Gage Foster (132) won by technical Fall for Hoopeston Area while Devin Cartwright (106), Isaiah Bell (120) and Trenton Lanter (182) won by forfeit.

Javontae Crider (113) won by pin for Danville while Langston Hobbs (126) won by decision and Ty Smith (138) won by technical fall. Zach Mittman (152), Tanner Shelato (160) and Austin Dunbar (220) each won by forfeit.

Covington 39

Westville 15

COVINGTON, Ind. — Brent Richardson (132), Coty Coon (138) and Dalton Hardy (220) each won by pin as the Trojans beat the Tigers in their last regular season match.

Gabe Cortapassi (145), Karson Allen (195) and Garrett Reynolds (285) each won by decision for Covington while Wyatt Kinderman (152) and Shawn Holt (160 each won by forfeit.

The Trojans will compete in Saturday’s IHSAA sectional, while Westville will be part of the Eastern Illinois Invitational on Saturday.
