LOCAL ROUNDUP: Danville tennis sweeps Watseka

DANVILLE — It was a clean sweep for the Danville girls tennis team on Monday.

The Vikings not only won all nine matches in a dual meet against the Watseka Warriors, but Danville won all nine matches in straight sets.

The only match that Watseka came close to forcing a third set was at No. 3 doubles as Danville’s Katie Koebrich and Amanda Vadeboncouer defeated Samantha Hodolitz and Ami Patel, 6-3, 7-6 (1).

Rachel Lewis, playing No. 1 singles and doubles, won both of her matches, 6-0, 6-0, while her doubles partner Taylor Ellis, playing No. 3 singles, dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

The Danville girls tennis team will be back in action today with a 4 p.m. dual meet at Normal Community.

PREP BOYS SOCCER

Blue Ridge 4, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 0

GEORGETOWN — Devin McGowan had a match-high 33 saves but it wasn’t enough as the Knights scored four second-half goals to beat the Buffaloes.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm, which falls to 1-12, will play Oakwood today in a 4:30 p.m. match.

PREP VOLLEYBALL

Bismarck-Henning 3, Seeger 2

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Mary Bass had a big night, leading her team in kills and blocks as the Blue Devils pulled out a five-set victory over the Patriots.

Bass finished with 16 kills, 11 digs, six blocks and three aces as Bismarck-Henning defeated Seeger, 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 20-25, 15-4.

Maddie Winkler had a team-high 32 assists and four aces for the Blue Devils, while Addie Voyles had 13 digs. Bismarck-Henning improves to 9-6 with the victory.

The Blue Devils return to Vermilion Valley Conference action tonight as Bismarck-Henning will host Georgetown-Ridge Farm.

Covington 3, Riverton Parke 0

COVINGTON, Ind. — Kendra Wallace had a team-high 24 digs to lead the Trojans past the Panthers in a Wabash River Conference volleyball match.

Covington, which improves to 14-5 overall and 7-1 in the league, defeated Riverton Parke, 25-14, 25-21 and 25-18.

Regan Foster had a team-high seven kills and four aces; while Brooke Flinn had a team-high three blocks for the Trojans.

Covington will be back in action on Thursday with a home match against Crawfordsville.
